Winter holidays in Zell am See-Kaprun

Glaciers, mountains and lakes – Alpine winter with 100% snow guarantee

Winter in Zell am See-Kaprun extends from the shores of the frozen Lake Zell to the ski resorts of Schmittenhöhe and Kitzsteinhorn. All winter sports are available in this idyllic setting.

Three ski resorts for skiers and snowboarders
Zell am See-Kaprun is one of the most attractive ski regions in Austria. Three ski resorts with 138 km of slopes provide plenty of variety for avid skiers and snowboarders. Schmittenhöhe itself offers world-class skiing options. Ascending the mountain in the Porsche-designed cable car is a pleasure in its own right. The extensive network of 26 cable cars and lifts reaches up to  2,000 metres and provides access to 77 km of perfectly prepared slopes.

Excellent offers for families
The Zell am See-Kaprun region is a favourite with parents and children alike, thanks to its professional ski schools for young skiers. While adults are busy carving down the slopes, little ones are well cared for by qualified skiing instructors. Children’s ski schools tailor their programmes to fit specific ages. At the Schmittenhöhe Junior Club, the holiday dragon Schmidolin ensures everyone has a great time with plenty of games and competitions.

Classic skiing and skater style
Cross-country skiers will find their rhythm on 40 km of well-prepared trails. The cross-country areas extend from the high trail on Schmittenhöhe to the eleven-kilometre circular route along the frozen Lake Zell. Easy access to the 200 km Pinzgauer and Saalachtaler cross-country trail network offers numerous options for long-distance skiers. Night owls can pick up speed on 12-kilometres of illuminated trails in Zell am See-Kaprun.

Winter sports the easy way
Hikers, snowshoe walkers and Nordic walkers can enjoy the wintry landscape in more leisurely fashion. Some 40 km of cleared paths take walkers through the picturesque mountains surrounding Zell. Tobogganing has long been a popular winter sport in Zell am See-Kaprun and exhilarating rides on the natural toboggan runs between Kitzsteinhorn and Schmittenhöhe are great fun! The region’s tobogganing highlights include the Maisiflitzer roller coaster on the Maiskogel.
